A River in Time
– illustrated talk by Christine Gregory
Landscape painter, writer, photographer and naturalist
Ashbourne & District Camera Club welcomes Christine Gregory to the club on Wednesday 8th October 2014. Christine lives in Derbyshire and has dedicated her current passion – photography – into making and writing a books.
A River in Time is the title of a book by Christine Gregory published in 2013. The White Peak’s River Bradford flows through open meadows and deep limestone dales. It has been modified by man since the Middle Ages and is now a popular walk for visitors to the area. Christine Gregory takes us on a photographic journey along the river looking at its flora and fauna as well as its social and industrial history.
Though only 4 miles long, the River Bradford has shaped the communities who have lived beside it, and likewise been shaped by them. The talk, which is illustrated by Christine’s photos, explores the river, its wildlife, geology, ecology, history and ongoing plans to protect it and the life it supports.
Christine’s previous careers include teaching and radio journalism; she now mainly enjoys painting and photography. She successfully exhibits her images in Derbyshire and Scotland – places from were she also gleans much inspiration.
Come along to All Saints Hall on Belle Vue Road, Ashbourne on Wednesday 8th October at 8pm to meet Christine and find out more about her life and work; admission is just £3.00 (including refreshments) and everybody is extremely welcome.
